Most D&D committees in Singapore pick the theme first and think about the photos later. The theme then shows up in the invitation, the decor and the dress code, and the photos are what everyone looks at on Monday. Here are 25 themes that work for company dinners, with what each one needs so it also looks good in the gallery and on the booth prints.

Choosing a theme that photographs well

• Check the ballroom first. A patterned carpet and a low ceiling limit what decor can do. Ask the venue for photos of the room set up for a past dinner.
• Keep the dress code easy. The best themed photos come from events where most guests actually dressed up. One clear idea (black and gold, all white, 80s) gets more people in costume than a complicated one.
• Talk to the AV team about light. Stage lights set to the theme colour look good in the room, but a room lit only in blue or red makes faces look odd in photos. Keep some white or warm light on the stage and tables.
