Which Singapore hotels do you photograph events in?
Regularly across the city's conference hotels — among them The Fullerton Hotel, The Westin Singapore, PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, Grand Copthorne Waterfront and PARKROYAL on Beach Road. Ballrooms differ in ceiling height, colour temperature and how much room a photographer has to move, which is what we plan around.
Why is a hotel ballroom harder to shoot than a convention hall?
Light and space. Ballrooms are warm and comparatively dim, with mixed sources — tungsten downlights, coloured uplighting, an LED screen and often a window. And there is far less room to move: at a seated dinner the photographer works the gaps between tables rather than a clear floor.
Do you use flash at a dinner?
Sparingly, and never as the whole approach. Warm ballroom light is the reason the room feels the way it does, so we expose for it with fast lenses and careful white balance, and add light only where a face would otherwise be lost.
Can you do table-to-table shots at a gala dinner?
Yes — it is one of the most requested pieces of hotel-ballroom coverage. We work the room systematically so every table is covered without interrupting the programme, and pair it with stage, VIP and award-moment coverage.
How much does hotel event photography cost?
The same published rates as anywhere: from S$600 nett for a short single-photographer assignment and from S$1,180 nett for a full day with a crew. The venue changes the plan, not the price.
