Videography quotes confuse people for one simple reason: the camera work is only half the product. The other half — the edit — happens after everyone has gone home, and it's usually the bigger half. What you're paying for
An event video quote covers four things: the videographer's day (gear, filming, backups), the edit (selection, cut, colour, sound and titles), project management (briefing, run-sheet alignment, revisions) and the deliverables themselves (master film, social cutdowns, subtitles). Editing is usually the larger share of the work — which is why a "quick three-minute video" of a full-day conference is not a quick job, and why quotes vary so much between vendors who edit properly and those who don't.

Highlight film vs full production
Most events need one of two things. A highlight film — three to five minutes that carries the energy of the day for marketing, sponsors and next year's invitation — is the right call for the majority of conferences, dinners and launches. A full production adds complete session recordings, per-speaker cutdowns, sponsor idents or a documentary edit, and that's where the budget grows with every session recorded and every edit delivered (our brief-budget data shows the same pattern on the photography side). If you're unsure, price the highlight film first; session recordings can usually be added as a second camera rather than a second production. Our corporate video page shows recent examples of both.
What moves the quote
- Filming hours and crew size.A second camera adds coverage safety and cutaway options — and a second operator's day on site.
- Number of deliverables.One master film is one edit. Add five speaker cutdowns and a 30-second social teaser and you've tripled the edit bench time.
- Turnaround.Standard delivery is measured in days; a same-day edit means an editor on site, cutting in parallel while the crew films.
- Revisions.The number of revision rounds is written into the quote; open-ended revision cycles are why some quotes look suspiciously cheap up front.
- Extras with lead time.Drone aerials are flown by our licensed CAAS-permitted partner operator and need CAAS permits — flag them in your brief early so there is lead time for the application.
